A new EUROAVIA challenge has been set out and our local group, AS Rzeszów, has mobilized. From the beginning, one of the most challenging tasks turned out to be putting together a new team, capable of surpassing last year’s achievements in the competition. More than half of the members, whose great dedication and innovation played were instrumental in the team’s success finished their studies, therefore were not available for the new competition. This led to a substantial knowledge gap, and closing became our priority.
The recruitment process was divided into two parts: promoting our local group and recruiting members for the competition’s team. To promote our local group, we set up promotional stands at the university and gave presentations about what we do to the students to raise awareness and build up as much interest as possible. This had a positive effect, since a group of 33 possible newcomers gathered.
Afterwards, the recruitment process began. Newly arrived members of the team were welcomed and trained, all the necessary skills can be learned, and everyone can play an important role in the team. Experienced members shared knowledge, skills and discussed all steps necessary for the creation of a successful aircraft, capable of rising to the expectations of the challenge. In the course of only a few weeks, every present new member of the team acquired some of the required skills to start working on the project. As everyone started to integrate, certain soft skills and character traits of the newcomers were visible, which helped in further optimalisation of our work as a team. Now, our new members set out to develop not only our new aircraft, but also themselves, gaining experience and skills.
With the skilled hands of the experienced and the willingness to learn of the new members, AS Rzeszów’s team is currently on the verge of completing the first prototype of our new aircraft. Our newly expanded team is now more determined than ever to surpass the achievements of the predeceasing team. AS Rzeszów believes that through careful planning, innovation and great effort, no challenge is impossible.
