Hello EUROAVIAns! The start of the year is the period right before our biggest events, but this isn’t going to stop us from organizing at least one event each month for our members!
JANUARY
Continuing the seminars cycle about the aerospace world, on January 26th we hosted “Wings of Change: UAVs and Sustainable Transportation”. As the name suggests, we explored the newest technologies in the field thanks to the contributions of Eng. Giuseppe Tortora of ABzero, Eng. Vincenzo Rosario Baraniello from CIRA, Eng. Fabio Guida CTO of Multiversity Group and Eng. Danilo Ciliberti from the Industrial Engineering Department of Federico II.
Eng. Tortora’s section was particularly interesting as they livestreamed one of their first flights aimed to carry medical products from one side of the city to the other and it was also very appreciated from the partecipants.
Eng. Guida explored an underrated topic, how in the modern world the pure technology advancement is useless if not positioned in the right market at the right time. For example, amazing innovation such as the Concorde and the Space Shuttle had to retire due to financial problems.
Students were eagear to participate and enjoy the interesting seminar, and thanks to the partnership with the university, students also gained CFUs by joining the talk.
FEBRUARY
One of our longest collaboration has always been with TECNAM, one of the biggest small-aircraft producer in the world. On February 3rd we had our annual visit to the company with more than 20 members of our LG.
The event started with an explanation of how the Pascale brothers founded Partenavia, the first aircraft producer in the south of Italy, with all their successes and failures that lead them to found what we know today as TECNAM.
The visit contiunued in the production hangars where they showed us in depth every step of how they manufacture their iconic airplanes. Unluckly, being an off-limit zone we coulnd’t take any pictures, but trust us, the participants were enthusiastic seeing all the things the have studied in university in a real, functioning company.
In the last month we have also spent a lot of time organizing the most important event of the year, our annual workshop, but well, this is still a work in progress and I can’t spoil you anything or I might not be able to write the next Newsletter. But expect a lot from the next one.
Good luck with your exams and see you in the next EUROAVIA event.
