Hello EUROAVIAns, welcome to the latest news from EUROAVIA Napoli!
The biggest and most complex local event of EUROAVIA Napoli history has just ended, but let’s start from the beginning. On the 13th of May the workshop NO SPOILER started. It consisted of a 24 people challenge where every team had to design and build a car spoiler. The first part of the event was composed of theoretical lessons, where thanks to some professors who helped us we taught the participants how to use softwares such as Ansys, Fusion and JavaFoil. After some days of theory, we had a very satisfying Sponsor Day with the help of Greentech Solution and Talent Solutions that supported the whole event.
The next phase consisted of a week of design, where the participants had to opportunity to put into practice all the skills they acquired choosing the air foil profile, the general structure and the adequate inclinations. Finally, thanks to Unina Corse, one of the biggest Associations in Napoli, we brought everyone to a laboratory where they could build with tears and blood their dream project. We had a blast during these days, with every possible accident happening, making it such a fun and rewarding experience.
After more days of refinements, on the 30th and 31st of May we had the opportunity to test them in a real wind chamber kindly given us by our Industrial Engineering Department, with the help of a whole team of professors and technicians. We didn’t expect such a big support: it started as a workshop and ended as a team project with tools that would have costed thousands of euros outside of the University. So, after 18 days of work we ended the whole thing with a bang, with an amazing ceremony with some of the most important people of our university attending! Being a relatively small board, it was exhausting, but it was really appreciated that 3 new people will join us in the Local Board next year thanks to this event, and this really proves us that our work was worth it!
But the associative year is not over yet, in June we have concluded our 3 seminars cycle on the aerospace world with “Apollo to Artemis: the next giant leap”. With the participation of CIRA (Italian Aerospace Research Centre), Telespazio, Ispace and many more we explored the future possibilities of a Moon civilization, from laws to technologies. Daria Todino and Luigi Ammirabile, our Business Relations Department members, made an historical introduction on the topic. With this event we ended our first collaboration with the university with an academic purpose: from this year our seminars give CFUs, the university credits, for participating.
The next step is planning our LB elections in July and our famous “Flight initiation”… But it’s still a work in progress. Hope to see you soon!
