December has been a month of new beginnings for EUROAVIA Patras, marked by the first team meetings of the year!
Following the 1st General Meeting and the highly successful 20 Minutes of Innovation (20MOI) event, all members were assigned to their preferred teams. As a result, our ACC, Airplane Academy, and Podcast teams began their work with smooth introductions to EUROAVIA and its operations. Each EUROAVIAn had the opportunity to be part of their first individual WG and/or Project meeting for the 2024-2025 business year. New and old members got to know each other and discussed “family matters” concerning each WG/Project, as a way to kick off implementing this year’s check-list goals.
Moreover, on December 16th and 17th AS Patras hosted the introductory training workshops regarding the knowledge and skills required to be attained by each interested member. Specifically, on Monday the 16th, both BR and HR WGs had the privilege of learning how to professionally use LinkedIn, how to approach sponsors, and how to manage members and receive feedback. The trainings were performed by the skilful EUROAVIA trainer, Anastasia Bogdou, as well as Board members Spyros Vasileiou and Zack Delimaros.
In addition, on Tuesday the 17th, the enthusiastic Marketing members got their first hands on experience on designing tools like Canva and Photoshop, led by Georgia Pavlopoulou and Antonis Kyvellos. This training session was completed with a useful guide to improving presentation skills.
In other exciting news, the Rocket Project has made a surprising comeback to EUROAVIA Patras! This team follows a similar concept to the Airplane Academy, functioning as a non-competitive, educational, and introductory initiative focused on rocketry. This year’s goal is to build and launch a kit rocket gifted to our AS, with the potential to design and construct a small-scale rocket from scratch, depending on our members’ capabilities.
Last but certainly not least, our members Andreas Birmpilis, Spyros Vantarakis, Vicky Kasouridou, and Antonis Kyvellos participated in the final round of the Ideathon in Zagreb—and won first place! Team AVAION selected the challenge presented by Eurocontrol and exceeded all expectations, developing an application focused on airplane passenger monitoring and disruption assistance. Congratulations to the team on this outstanding achievement!
Reflecting on the year that is coming to an end, we believe that AS Patras had one of its most successful years. Following a plethora of trainings, Company Visits and successful participation in competitions, this year had everything! We can’t wait to see what 2025 holds for us, but one thing is for certain: that with immense amounts of “meraki” (meaning doing something with love, soul and creativity), preparations already underway for an even better year!
From all of us here in AS Patras, happy holidays and a happy new year!
See you in 2025!
AS Patras
