From January 26th to the 30th, 2025 PAS Samsun had the opportunity to host a Fly-In, welcoming EUROAVIAns to the Turkish city of Samsun.
January 26th, 2025 – Welcome Dinner
Everything started off with a “Welcome Dinner” to warmly greet our guests. Participants were welcomed by our team upon their arrival in Samsun, and a brief introduction to the event was provided. We prepared and served traditional Turkish dishes, offering an unforgettable feast to our guests. The evening not only introduced the unique flavours of Turkish cuisine but also created an opportunity for cultural exchange. It was the best possible way to start the event!
January 27th, 2025 – Samsun City Tour and Social Activities
We started the day early with a delightful breakfast, accompanied by a breathtaking view. Following breakfast, we embarked on a city tour of Samsun, exploring its historical and touristic landmarks. Our first stop was the Bandırma Ferry Museum, where we learned about the establishment of the Republic of Turkey. Next, we visited the Gazi Museum, where we gained insights into Atatürk’s arrival in Samsun and its historical significance. Later, we ascended Amisos Hill, which offers one of the most scenic views in Samsun, and captured beautiful moments through photographs.
After the city tour, participants had free time to explore Samsun at their own pace. Some chose to relax in cafes and socialise, while others engaged in shopping or visited different parts of the city. In the later hours, we organised an exciting go-kart race, which added a competitive and fun element to the day. In the evening, after enjoying a delightful dinner, we moved to a different district for various social activities, including karaoke, billiards, and board games, making the night an enjoyable experience.
January 28th, 2025 – Seminars & Model Rocket Workshop & Sprite Night
We started the third day with a light breakfast, followed by our seminar program:
- The first part was presented by our faculty advisor, who introduced the history of our local group and provided an overview of our university. The presentation included past projects and future goals of the club.
- Next, one of our alumni delivered an insightful presentation on the aviation industry in Turkey, discussing current developments and career opportunities in the sector.
- This was followed by a presentation on aircraft design, covering essential engineering principles and methodologies.
- Finally, our esteemed sponsor provided a briefing on their contributions to the aviation sector and introduced their latest innovations.
After a snack break, we proceeded with the model rocket workshop. Participants designed and built their own model rockets, engaging in a process that required both technical skills and hands-on experience. Once the rockets were assembled, aerodynamic evaluations were conducted before testing them at the beach. At the beach, everyone launched their model rockets and observed their performance, making this a highly engaging and educational experience.
In the evening, we visited Kızılırmak Bird Sanctuary, where we enjoyed the breathtaking sunset and explored the beauty of nature. Following dinner, we went shopping for the Cultural Night and completed the final preparations.
Cultural Night became a hub for cultural exchange. Everyone brought food and beverages from their countries, sharing and tasting different cuisines. In addition, participants played their traditional music and taught each other their local dances. This event fostered an amazing cultural fusion, creating a truly unforgettable night. Everyone had an incredible time, dancing, laughing, and making cherished memories.
January 29, 2025 – Ladik Akdağ Ski Trip
We started the day a bit later with a light breakfast before heading to the Ladik Akdağ Ski Center. Although the snowfall was limited, we still enjoyed a scenic cable car ride, reaching the summit of Akdağ Mountain and admiring the breathtaking panoramic views. Participants took plenty of photographs and embraced the beauty of the winter landscape.
Afterwards, we engaged in snowball fights and played with the available snow. Some participants also had the chance to ski, making the trip even more thrilling.
Following our time at the ski resort, we visited Ambarköy Open-Air Museum, where we explored its historical structures and learned about the region’s architectural heritage. The museum featured traditional wooden houses, granaries, and workshops, providing an insightful glimpse into the local history and lifestyle. Participants had the opportunity to walk through the historical village and immerse themselves in its cultural atmosphere.
After a long yet fulfilling day, we enjoyed a delicious dinner before returning to Samsun, reflecting on the incredible experiences we had throughout the trip.
January 30, 2025 – Departure Breakfast
On the final day of the event, we gathered for our last breakfast at a cozy café. During breakfast, we shared our experiences and collected feedback from the participants. Everyone expressed their appreciation for the event, emphasising its success both socially and technically. After warm goodbyes, we concluded the EUROAVIA Fly-in Samsun event on a high note.
This event provided an invaluable experience in both technical and social aspects. Participants expanded their knowledge of the industry while forming new connections and experiencing different cultures. The EUROAVIA Fly-in Samsun event left a lasting impression, filled with unforgettable moments and valuable friendships.
