One of the most important and favorite activities of AS Athens’ team is to introduce the next generation of engineers to the work of our local group and share the excitement and possibilities of the aerospace industry. Inspiring young minds and igniting their passion for aviation and space exploration is something we deeply value, as we believe that the future of the field depends on fostering curiosity and innovation.
From the 12th until the 14th of March, we had the pleasure of doing that during the highly anticipated “Open Days 2025” event hosted at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Over the course of these three days, we engaged with students from different academic backgrounds, introducing them to our work, our objectives, and the various competitions we have participated in over the years.
One of the highlights of the event was our detailed presentation on the aircraft we have designed for these competitions. We took the time to explain the thought process behind each design, the engineering challenges we faced, and how we tackled them using innovative solutions. By breaking down our approach, from initial concepts to final construction and testing, we aimed to give students a comprehensive understanding of how theoretical knowledge is applied in real-world aerospace projects.
Beyond discussing our technical achievements, we also focused on the broader scope of the aerospace industry, emphasising the educational and professional development opportunities available. From internships and research projects to career paths in leading aerospace companies, we highlighted the various ways students can get involved and pursue their aspirations in this dynamic field.
What made this experience truly special, however, was the interaction with the students themselves. Their enthusiasm, insightful questions, and eagerness to learn filled us with optimism for the future of aerospace engineering. Seeing their excitement reminded us why we are so passionate about what we do, and we hope that we managed to pass on some of that passion to them.
To all the students who joined us during Open Days 2025, we wish you bright and successful careers. We hope that our presentations and discussions have inspired you, and we look forward to welcoming you into our growing community of future engineers and aerospace enthusiasts!
