Raised and born in Italy in the beautiful city of Napoli, Luigi Ammirable is known by a lot of EUROAVIAns, especially now as a DIB officer. His journey began in November 2023 during an international event in Athens. At that time, he did not know anything about EUROAVIA or the local group of Napoli – he just subscribed to the event, unaware that it would be the beginning of a long-lasting relationship with the association.
“For the first time”, he confessed, “I felt something I never felt before – a safe space where you can share your ideas and expose yourself. I felt truly connected to something bigger than just an aerospace association. EUROAVIA ignites a spark in you impossible to stop”. From the moment on, he built strong bonds and friendship that pushed him further – both personally and professionally.
Before applying to be a DIB officer, Luigi joined AS and B&R WG in April 2024 after the Congress in Istanbul. And continued to join ETS and S&B. Inspired by the passion and commitment of the people he met, he decided to run for the DIB officer role. His motivation was simple: to keep this flame alive, to share this passion, and to help others feel connected as he did.
“I want to be one of the ones who deliver this passion and make sure EUROAVIAns continue to grow and inspire each other”.
EUROAVIA has helped Luigi to gain more self-confidence and believe in his capabilities. It helped him push beyond his limits and grow more persevering.
Now he is in his first year of a Master in Space Engineering, Luigi is already bringing his energy and ideas to the association. He’s currently working on the Business Plan for the year 2025-2026 and looks forward to attending the Paris Airshow. “I am speechless, I can’t even put into words how excited I am” he says with a big smile.
One of the most ambitious ideas Luigi proposed during the EMEAC in Lyon, is the “EUROAVIA Summer Camp” a new project where members from different countries could gather around Aerospace activities and culture. He also imagined an “EUROAVIA Training Program” to give LG members a chance to train, grow and discover new opportunities.
For Luigi, EUROAVIA is more than just an association. It is a sense of belonging. “We are not alone. We can always count on each other and grow together”
Where do you see EUROAVIA in 5 years? “In the last couple of years, we achieved things we did not think possible. I hope EUROAVIA will keep growing, connecting more people, and becoming known among students all over”.
Outside engineering, Luigi has many passions. He enjoys comics, philosophy, literature – and he has a special love for cooking. In fact, he has a new cooking project – he challenged himself to find the most disgusting thing on purpose, remaining eatable. You will probably see him with a book in one hand, a spatula in the other, and always smiling 🙂
