AS Lisboa: A Year Full of Aerospace Adventures
Over the past months, AS Lisboa has offered its members a wide range of enriching experiences, including field trips and the annual Aerospace Week. This article provides a summary of the key activities and achievements throughout the academic year.
Direct Contact with the Aerospace Industry
Connecting students with the aerospace sector is essential to inspire and motivate them. It gives insight into possible career paths and strengthens their drive to learn and achieve their goals.
TAP Air Portugal
Kicking off the academic year in October, our members participated in the TAP Open Day. During the visit to the facilities of Portugal’s national airline, students attended an introductory presentation followed by a guided tour of the base maintenance areas and the engines and components workshops.
OGMA
In December, another field trip took place this time to OGMA. The company provides manufacturing solutions for aircraft such as those from Leonardo, Dassault and Airbus Military, as well as maintenance and operations for platforms by Embraer, Lockheed Martin and Rolls-Royce. The visit gave students valuable insight into OGMA’s maintenance and manufacturing operations in action.

TEKEVER
In May, around 50 students joined a visit to TEKEVER, one of the leading aerospace companies in Portugal. Organized in collaboration with Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), this field trip allowed participants to discover TEKEVER’s main activity sectors and explore its aircraft and prototype manufacturing facilities.

Beyond Gravity
To close the academic year, students visited Beyond Gravity, a space company with offices in six countries and facilities in Portugal. The visit included presentations and a complete office tour, offering participants a glimpse into the daily life of engineers working in satellite and launcher development.

Semana Aeroespacial 2025
From February 17th to 21st, AS Lisboa hosted its flagship event: the Aerospace Week. The 2025 edition featured more than 45 companies at the career fair, alongside daily lectures from national and international professionals, alumni panels, and interactive Q&A sessions.
Workshops offered hands-on experience with real-world aerospace challenges, and the brand-new Hire-me! activity simulated job interviews with real engineering recruiters, a definite highlight for aspiring professionals.

Ongoing Projects and General Developments
Throughout the year, AS Lisboa members have been actively working on both technical and non-technical projects. Flight sessions and rocket launches were successfully carried out, a new edition of the semiannual Aerospace Newsletter was released, and fresh episodes of the AeroPod podcast were launched.
Conclusion
All of this was made possible thanks to the dedication and teamwork of AeroTéc (the Aerospace Engineering Students’ Association of Instituto Superior Técnico) !
