June 2025 Update from PAS Minho

July 1, 2025July 1, 2025 by Communication WG

Aerospace Engineering Gala – 7th June 2025
On the 7th of June, PAS Minho hosted the first Aerospace Engineering Gala. The event was filled with fun, laughter and great memories. After a warm welcome and dinner, we enjoyed a light-hearted award ceremony where some truly funny and well-deserved prizes were handed out, bringing plenty of laughs and good vibes.

A special highlight of the night was the tribute to our amazing finalists. We celebrated their journey and everything they’ve contributed to the University of Minho. The night ended on a high note with a lively after-party and open bar that kept everyone dancing and enjoying themselves until late.

PAM Aero 2025 – 21st June 2025
On June 21st, the Cerval Airfield hosted the third edition of PAM Aero, an annual event organized by AeroUM, the Aerospace Engineering students’ group at the University of Minho. The initiative, now a tradition within the academic community, brought together students, professionals and aviation enthusiasts for a full day of learning, flying and connecting with the aerospace sector.

The morning opened with a keynote from Professor João Sousa (UTAD / Geospatial Engineering College – Portuguese Engineers’ Order), who explored the challenges and opportunities of geospatial engineering within the aerospace field. He was followed by General Santos Senra Pérez of the Spanish Air Force and professor at the European University of Madrid, who delivered a thought-provoking session on air accident investigation, offering participants a deep and realistic perspective on aviation safety.

After a short coffee break, Daniel Lopes from Asas de Pombal flight school shared insights on pilot training and the reality of light aviation in Portugal. The technical component of the program was led by TMA Pedro Perez, who gave a hands-on class on aeronautical mechanics, allowing students to engage directly with real aircraft systems and components.

In the afternoon, the event shifted to the skies. Participants experienced baptism flights with the support of the Aeroclube do Alto Minho and Asas de Pombal, many flying for the first time — an unforgettable moment for those dreaming of a future in aviation. Later, the University of Minho team led a rocket launch session, bringing a playful and experimental side to aerospace engineering.

To conclude the day, a sunset party gathered all attendees in a relaxed and festive environment, reinforcing the sense of community and celebration around aerospace.

PAM Aero 2025 was supported by the University of Minho, the municipalities of Valença and Vila Nova de Cerveira, the Aeroclube do Alto Minho and the UMinho Aerospace Alumni network.

More than a technical event, PAM Aero stands as a powerful meeting point between generations and visions in the aerospace field. It highlights AeroUM’s role as a driver of innovation and academic engagement and serves as an inspiring example for the entire EUROAVIA community.
