October 2025 Update from AS Athens

October 28, 2025October 28, 2025 by Communication WG

September and October were filled with action, creativity, and aviation spirit for EUROAVIA Athens, as our team participated in several exciting events that showcased both our technical achievements and our passion for aerospace.

Our journey began at Athens Flying Week 2025, held at the Tanagra Air Base on September 6th — the largest airshow in Southeastern Europe. There, our members witnessed inspiring performances from some of the most renowned aircraft and display teams, including the Rafale Solo Display of the French Air and Space Force, the Eurofighter Typhoon, the Tornado, and the Hellenic Air Force demonstration teams F-16 “Zeus” and T-6 “Daedalus.” As night fell, the sky lit up with a breathtaking LED parachute show, where illuminated formations and colorful trails blended technology, precision, and artistry.

Later that month, our team gathered for a demonstration flight of HERMES VII, the aircraft that proudly achieved 3rd place at the New Flying Competition (NFC) 2025 this past August. This flight was organized so that all members could witness its performance firsthand, celebrating the dedication and teamwork that brought HERMES VII to life. Watching our aircraft take to the skies once again was a proud and motivating moment for everyone involved.

EUROAVIA Athens also took part in Researchers’ Night 2025 at the National Technical University of Athens, a Europe-wide event that brings science and innovation closer to society. Each year, European Researchers’ Night takes place simultaneously across hundreds of cities in Europe, promoting the role of research and technology in everyday life. Our booth attracted visitors eager to discover our aircraft models and discuss some of the technical details of our projects. We engaged with students, researchers, and aerospace enthusiasts, fostering dialogue and inspiring interest in aeronautical engineering.

Finally, on October 8th, we hosted our annual introductory event, “Be a EUROAVIAn,” where students and members came together to learn about our structure, activities, and goals. The Technical and Marketing Teams presented their past projects and aircraft (HERMES VI, Atlas, and HERMES VII) and discussed their roles within our local group. During the break, guests enjoyed a Flight Simulator experience that quickly became a highlight of the evening. We were also honored to host a former member of our team online, who shared his experience and how EUROAVIA influenced his professional journey and inspired his career in aerospace.
