EUROAVIA Lagos Hosts Membership Drive at Lagos State University: A New Wave of Aerospace Enthusiasts Emerges
EUROAVIA Lagos held its Membership Drive at Lagos State University, Epe Campus, on Wednesday, 19 November 2025. The event, which ran from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., brought together enthusiastic students eager to explore opportunities within the aerospace sector.
The programme began with Arrival and Registration, coordinated by the EUROAVIA team as students settled in for the day’s activities.
The session officially opened with a Welcome Address delivered by the President, Oluwarantimi Bukola, setting an inspiring tone for the event. This was followed by an insightful Introduction to EUROAVIA International and EUROAVIA Lagos, where she discussed the organisation’s mission, international reach, and the expanding footprint of the Lagos society.
The highlight of the event was the Keynote Speech, delivered by the President, Oluwarantimi Bukola, on the theme “Building the Next Generation of Aerospace Professionals in Nigeria”. The message resonated strongly with participants, encouraging them to take bold steps within the aerospace industry.
One of the major achievements of the Membership Drive was the successful collaboration with other aerospace focused student groups at LASU. EUROAVIA Lagos partnered with the Aerospace Engineering Students Association of Lagos State University (AESA), the Space Club Lagos State University, and the Young Aerospace Professionals Initiative (YAPI). Their presence enriched the event and demonstrated a unified effort to strengthen aerospace awareness and career development within the university. These partnerships signalled an encouraging step towards building a more connected and supportive aerospace ecosystem at LASU.
Students then proceeded to a Break and Networking Session, coordinated by the Public Relations Officer, Agose Sylvester, providing an opportunity for meaningful interaction and questions.
The programme continued with a Membership Onboarding Briefing, delivered by a EUROAVIA team representative, outlining the benefits of joining and the responsibilities of active members.
A stimulating Student Panel Discussion followed, focusing on “Unconventional Aerospace Careers”. The panel featured President Oluwarantimi Bukola, Grants Coordinator Saliu, and PRO Sylvester, who shared valuable insights into diverse career paths in the aerospace sector.
The President returned to facilitate the Q&A Session, during which students asked questions related to global competitions, technical exposure, and international opportunities.
As the event concluded with Closing Remarks and Group Photographs, the team received positive feedback from participants, including a message shared on the official WhatsApp communication platform stating “The EUROAVIA Lagos membership drive was one nice session brought to us today, it is really appreciated”. This encouraging response reflected the impact and value of the event within the LASU community. EUROAVIA Lagos looks forward to a dynamic year ahead, strengthened by new members and upcoming technical projects, workshops, and student driven initiatives.
