AS Napoli August 2026 Updates

The last few months have represented a whirlwind of extraordinary emotions, complex engineering challenges, and unforgettable milestones for our association, making us extremely proud. We have taken our passion for aerospace well beyond the boundaries of university classrooms, demonstrating once again how important it is to experience engineering in a dynamic, proactive, and totally engaging way. Here is a summary of everything we have achieved together during this intense period.

The true flagship of our technical activities was undoubtedly the FLIGHT CLUB workshop. Our members put themselves to the test in a real industrial design challenge: developing the wings and tailplane for the PROSIB university aeromodel. Working exactly like a research and development team, we used advanced software such as OpenVSP and Autodesk Fusion 360 for CAD modeling, later tackling CFD simulations to validate our geometric choices. Subsequently, exploiting the enormous potential of rapid prototyping and Creality machines, we moved on to the physical production of the components via 3D printing. The greatest thrill for all participants was definitely testing the models inside the wind tunnel and finally seeing the aerodynamic theory studied in books transform into real data and tangible results.

Aware of how crucial it is to prepare for the professional world, we organized the “Boost your career: insights from the industry world” seminar, aiming at supporting our members in entering the job market. Through this valuable educational meeting and a highly practical mini-workshop guided by HR experts, we thoroughly explored corporate dynamics and current selection processes. Participants learned fundamental techniques on how to enhance their skills, how to face dreaded interviews with the right confidence, and, above all, how to structure and write a Curriculum Vitae truly capable of catching the attention of recruiters in the competitive aerospace sector.

On the scientific events front, we are extremely proud of our participation as volunteers at the international congress on hypersonics, organized in great synergy by AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics) and AIDAA (Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics). Being able to contribute to an event of this magnitude was an exceptional opportunity to do quality networking, attend high-level technical conferences, and interact directly with the researchers and top global professionals who are literally rewriting the rules and limits of extreme high-speed flight.

But our community also grows and strengthens thanks to pure shared passion and moments of aggregation. With the EUROAVIA AIR RACE event, we tested our reflexes by fiercely competing on flight simulators, living an adrenaline-filled experience made even more immersive and realistic by the use of VR headsets. However, we did not limit ourselves to the virtual world: with the highly anticipated “Baptism of Flight”, many of our members experienced the indescribable emotion of lifting the wheels off the ground for the first time aboard a light aircraft, looking at the world from a completely new perspective.
