Fly-In Cairo 2025, held from February 16th to 22nd, was an extraordinary experience that captivated EUROAVIA members with its vibrant mix of cultural exploration and aerospace enthusiasm. Organised by the dedicated EUROAVIA Cairo team at Zewail City University, the event delivered unforgettable moments. This report captures the joy, connections, and surprises that defined our adventure.
Overview
Our base was Dahab Hostel Cairo, a charming and centrally located retreat offering easy access to the city’s treasures. The itinerary featured visits to iconic landmarks like the Pyramids of Giza, the Egyptian Museum, and Khan El Khalili, paired with aerospace-focused activities at the Zewail City University.
Daily Highlights
Arrival
Participants arrived in Cairo, tired but excited. The warm welcome at Dahab Hostel fostered a sense of community, with introductions and light refreshments setting a positive tone. We had our welcome dinner and got to know each other and then we spent the night in “Ahwa Balady” a type of caffé and had an unforgettable night filled with memories and laughter.

Alexandria Day Trip
After a nourishing breakfast, the group travelled to Alexandria for a day of exploration. The Citadel of Qaitbay offered stunning Mediterranean views, while the Alexandria Library inspired awe with its architectural and intellectual grandeur. A stroll along the Corniche provided photo opportunities. The day concluded at Sporting club where a delicious dinner preceded a restful evening.

Egyptian Museum
Breakfast energised the group for a visit to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, where Tutankhamun’s treasures and ancient statues left everyone spellbound. The evening offered free time, to explore Cairo’s vibrant streets and enjoy local cuisine.
Pyramids and Zewail City
The Pyramids of Giza were a highlight, their majesty surpassing expectations. The Sphinx captivated the group, inspiring numerous photographs.
After a satisfying lunch, the group visited Zewail City University, where cutting-edge facilities and an engaging activity sparked lively discussions. Meeting EUROAVIA Cairo members was a privilege, fostering meaningful connections.
The evening’s Cultural Night was a vibrant celebration of shared traditions, accompanied by a flavourful dinner.

Old Cairo and Khan El Khalili
The group explored Old Cairo, where the Citadel of Saladin provided stunning city views and the Complex of Religions highlighted Egypt’s interfaith history. After lunch, Khan El Khalili’s bustling market enchanted everyone with its array of spices, jewellery, and textiles. Some secured unique souvenirs, while others embraced the lively chaos of the market’s alleys. Dinner concluded a day filled with discovery.
Abdeen Palace and Nile Cruise
A visit to Abdeen Palace, a stunning blend of Ottoman, European, and Islamic architectural styles. The day’s highlight was a two-hour yacht cruise on the Nile, where participants shared beverages and foods representing their cultures. The festive atmosphere, filled with music and laughter, was unforgettable.

Farewell
The final day involved a dinner on the Nile and farewells, with no formal activities scheduled. Participants exchanged contact details, shared heartfelt goodbyes, and reflected on the week’s memories before departing.
Reflections
Fly-In Cairo 2025 was a remarkable journey that blended cultural discovery with professional and personal growth. The awe-inspiring Pyramids, the vibrant markets, and the serene Nile cruise created lasting memories, while Zewail City and EUROAVIA Cairo’s warm hospitality strengthened our community. The event’s spirit of adventure and connection shone through, leaving participants with cherished friendships and a deep appreciation for Egypt’s heritage.
