Every year, the event that marks the beginning of the Business Year for AS Pisa is the Election Meeting. The event, held on October 14th, was attended by a large number of members. After a brief presentation of the association and the main events hosted within the past year, it was time for the presentation of the candidates.
The Local Board of AS Pisa has grown larger, welcoming back some familiar faces and introducing new ones excited to start this experience.
Following the vote, the results were as follows: Giulia Gemma was re-elected as president, Veaceslav Virlan as vice-president, Lorenzo Minelli as secretary, Francesca Piccinno as treasurer, Jacopo Macchione and Manuel Fazio as executive members. In addition, Nicola Bellucci and Ivan Campagnolo are the new figures in the Local Board, and they will both hold the positions of executive members.
Later on, to celebrate the successful elections and a year full of events, we all went to dinner together. We enjoyed a delicious pizza at a restaurant in the center of Pisa and closed the evening in good company.

A few days later, on the 23rd of October, we gathered again for the second event of the BY: MATLAB Onramp Party.
More than sixty participants gathered to learn the fundamentals of MATLAB. MATLAB is a high-level environment for numerical computing, visualization, and algorithm development. It is essential for aerospace engineers because it enables rapid modelling, simulation, control-system design, and data analysis that support tasks from trajectory studies to structural and aerodynamic assessment.

The evening opened with a EUROAVIA presentation followed by a concise introduction to MATLAB and the aims of the Onramp course. Participants then proceeded through the online modules, which combined short theoretical explanations with guided exercises. We learned how to create matrices and vectors, evaluate expressions, and plot equations to visualize results. The self-paced format allowed attendees to practice commands in the live environment, reinforce key concepts, and ask targeted questions as they advanced.
To add an element of challenge, a friendly competition ran throughout the session. The fastest participants to complete at least seventy percent of the course received MATLAB branded gadgets. The prizes included T-shirts, water bottles, stickers, hats, and socks, creating an energetic and motivating atmosphere. Pizza Margherita was served while the gadgets were distributed, offering a relaxed moment for informal discussion and bonding.
The event concluded with a Kahoot quiz based on the Onramp content. The questions tested both understanding and speed, it was really challenging to answer each correctly. The top performers won the quiz and received a T-shirt.
Overall, the “MATLAB Onramp Party” successfully combined structured learning with community building and light-hearted competition, ensuring that everyone left with stronger skills and greater confidence in using MATLAB.
We are excited to launch our upcoming initiatives and invite you to stay tuned, as many exciting opportunities for learning and engagement are on the way!
