This April, AS Leuven proudly organised its very first Aerospace Job Fair, a major step in our ongoing mission to bridge the gap between students and the Belgian aerospace industry. Held in the beautiful Machine Hall of the Thermotechnical Institute, the event gathered over 120 students and 11 companies and student organisations from across the sector.

The Journey of The Aestro Magazine from AS Istanbul
At the end of the year 2020, when we were still facing the global pandemic COVID-19, we decided to create an online magazine focused on aviation and space. Our aim was to share the developments, discoveries and research in these fields with our community, also as a way of staying connected to the world. The first issue was prepared with great enthusiasm and dedication, being published in February 2021. However, unexpected challenges forced us to pause. The extended quarantine of COVID-19 made it almost impossible to work on The Aestro Magazine since it prevented us from getting together, finding new members, and creating a solid team for the future of the magazine.
May 2025 Update from AS Castelldefels
AS Castelldefels is pleased to share its latest activities. Firstly, our annual trip this year was to Munich (Germany), where we explored an incredible city and met fellow EUROAVIANs. During our visit, we went to the ESA-DLR facilities, the BMW Museum, Nymphenburg Palace, the Deutsches Museum and the Allianz Arena. We would like to thank FIB Leo Buchner, who gave us an incredible tour around the city and showed us the ropes for an authentic Bavarian dinner.
“Inat” – More Than Just a Word from AS Beograd
Try translating the Serbian word inat into English, and you’ll quickly realise it is more than just stubbornness: it is quiet determination, a refusal to give up, especially when it seems like everything is lost. It’s the reason some teams walk away, while others stay up all night fixing what’s broken.
Inspiring the Next Generation: A Visit from Tsiamoulis Schools from AS Athens
Last week, our team had the pleasure of welcoming students from Tsiamoulis Schools to our facilities at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). It was an honour to open our doors to the students and share with them our work, our values, and our vision for the future.
Can airplanes fly without a pilot?
It sounds like the start of a science fiction movie. A plane takes off, flies thousands of kilometers, lands perfectly… and not a single pilot in the cockpit. As crazy as it might seem, the question isn’t if it’s possible, but when it will happen. So, can planes actually fly without a pilot ? Let’s…
Did You Know Modern Airplanes Have “Brake Pads” Made of Carbon?
When we think of aircraft technology, we often think of powerful jet engines, fancy wings, and complicated avionics. But one of the most vital (and least appreciated) systems on any airplane is an airplane’s braking system especially during landing, when stopping a 200-ton airplane traveling at 280 km/h is no easy feat. Incredibly, the material…
Douglas Aircraft: Contracts and Conflict in WWII
Aviation Ascending: Douglas Aircraft’s Wartime Expansion During the Second World War, aviation became both a strategic tool and a booming industry. At AS Leuven, our main goal is connecting our members with the aerospace industry,…
April 2025 check in from AS València
This year, in EUROAVIA València, we have experienced an extraordinary situation. Due to the Dana in October, we were forced to suspend all the activities to be carried out during the months of November and December. However, after this period, we have managed to come back stronger than ever. Throughout spring, we have carried out…
