Meet Yusuf Songün, member of the month for April 2026 and the voice behind “Evolution” in Human Resources Working Group (HR WG).

From Welcome Event of AS Aachen
Can you briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Yusuf Songün, member of the HR WG since October 2025 and President of AS Aachen, where all the EUROAVIA Aachen stickers are from. ; )
Explain a bit about the WG. What is your work, and how do you organise the tasks among your members?
The easiest way to explain it is this:
The Affiliated Societies (AS) WG is like the health-checker of the local groups.
HR WG is like the health-checker of the working groups.
HR is responsible for monitoring working groups and international structures, organising interviews for the working groups, writing policies, as well as managing tickets and vacancies. Recently, we have even started supporting the IB in finding and preparing future DIB candidates.
One thing I’m especially proud of is initiating the updated interview process and contributing to the current development of the HR WG’s structure and positioning.
What keeps you motivated in your WG?
In HR, we have HR representatives for each working group. I’m the HR representative for the Business Relations WG, and through this, you constantly meet new people and discover completely new topics. Every exchange feels fresh and engaging, and it really broadens your horizon.
Describe the WG in one word.
One word to describe my WG is “Evolution”.
Since HR is not only about supporting the current structure, but also about preparing and developing the next generation of coordinators, board members, as well as active EUROAVIAns.
Your favourite thing about EUROAVIA.
My favourite thing about EUROAVIA is definitely the EUROAVIA spirit, although everyone says that, and honestly, that’s exactly the point. I really enjoy talking to people, building connections, and EUROAVIAns are just so easy and natural to connect with!

How did you feel when you were chosen as Member of the Month?
First of all, I didn’t even know, because I don’t use social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. All of a sudden, my phone started dancing because of the messages I received. At the beginning, I was honestly confused. People were writing things like “You did it!”, “Look what we have here!”, or “Totally deserved!”…
Then, slowly, it all started to make sense, and I genuinely couldn’t stop smiling : )
Finish with a catchy phrase.
Although the quote went through different variations over time and is often linked to Victor Hugo, the meaning stays the same:
« Rien n’est plus fort qu’une idée dont l’heure est venue »
“Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come”
