As a new academic year is beginning, EUROAVIA Tampere can look back at what we have accomplished in the past year both as a part of an international community, and as a visible part of the community at Tampere University, and look forward to what the next year will bring. From taking part in the Air Cargo Challenge competition in Stuttgart to gaining more active members, we have seen a lot of growth as an AS.
The absolute highlight and defining event of the previous year for us has been competing in the Air Cargo Challenge. While for EUROAVIA Tampere this was not the first time participating, it was for most members of this year’s team. And although most of us have had some experience with subjects required in the project, such as building radio-controlled aircraft or doing more extensive design work, something at this scale was new to all of us. The project was an invaluable learning experience in design, manufacturing, and even business communication through our efforts to find sponsors.
Designing and developing an aircraft from scratch while studying full time has been tough and
sometimes stressful, but at the end it was worth all the trouble as we were rewarded with the joy of
seeing our work come to fruition, along with a memorable trip to Stuttgart.
