EUROAVIA Lagos is the first EUROAVIA Society in West Africa, established to advance aerospace knowledge, innovation and collaboration through education, research and industry engagement. Based in Lagos, Nigeria, the local group connects students and early-career professionals across multiple universities with opportunities in engineering, research and international collaboration.
A year of growing the local aerospace community
During the 2025–2026 Business Year, EUROAVIA Lagos focused on building its membership, creating accessible aerospace learning opportunities and strengthening connections within the student aerospace community.
| 80 members as of 17 April 2026 | 72 members acquired since 1 October 2025 | 5 major local learning/recruitment activities highlighted in the report |
From recruitment to aerospace learning
The year began with the EUROAVIA Lagos Membership Drive at Lagos State University on 19–20 November 2025, held in collaboration with AESA LASU, Space Club LASU and YAPI. The event brought together 50 attendees and combined an introduction to EUROAVIA Lagos with aerospace awareness sessions and membership recruitment.
The local group then expanded its educational programming with the Aerospace CAD Bootcamp: From Design to Flight Ready Concepts, held online from 28 February to 14 March 2026. The programme introduced participants to CAD, aerospace CAD and practical aerospace CAD work.
Connecting students to the European aerospace ecosystem
EUROAVIA Lagos also hosted a three-part webinar series focused on different pathways into aerospace. The first session, “Your Passport to European Aerospace: Scholarships, Internships, and the EUROAVIA Network”, took place on 25 April 2026. It was followed by “Build It, Test It, Fly It: Student-Led Aircraft and UAV Projects in Aerospace Engineering” on 30 May, and “How Aircraft Are Actually Designed: From Concept to Configuration” on 27 June.
Together, these activities reflect the local group’s focus on giving students practical exposure to aerospace careers, projects, international opportunities and the broader EUROAVIA network.
What comes next?
EUROAVIA Lagos is looking ahead to an Aerospace Hackathon and a EUROAVIA Lagos Aerospace Conference. The group is also preparing for its next election cycle, scheduled for the first week of October 2026.
