AS Oostende September 2026 Updates

EUROAVIA Ideathon 2026 – EUROAVIA Ostend Welcomes You to Bruges

This November, EUROAVIA Ostend will have the pleasure of welcoming students from across the EUROAVIA network to Belgium for the EUROAVIA Ideathon 2026. From 3 to 8 November, participants will come together in Bruges for a week combining aerospace innovation, teamwork, networking and cultural exchange, with the main competition taking place over two intensive days.

The Ideathon is an aerospace-related competition in which participating teams are challenged to develop solutions to problems proposed by companies sponsoring the event. For us at EUROAVIA Ostend, organising the Ideathon is a great opportunity to bring together students who share the same passion for aerospace and give them an environment where they can learn from each other while tackling real industry-related challenges.

During the two main competition days, participants will work in teams to analyse their assigned challenges, develop ideas and turn them into innovative solutions within a limited amount of time. We are especially looking forward to seeing the different approaches that students from across Europe will bring to the challenges. With participants coming from different academic backgrounds, universities and countries, we hope that the diversity of perspectives will lead to creative and unexpected solutions.

For EUROAVIA Ostend, the Ideathon is also an opportunity to strengthen the connection between students and the aerospace industry. We are working to involve companies not only through the challenges themselves, but also by creating opportunities for participants to interact directly with professionals. One of the highlights of the programme will be a networking event, where participants will have the opportunity to meet professionals and young employees from different parts of the aviation and aerospace sector. We hope this will allow students to discover different career paths, ask questions about working in the industry and build connections that can continue beyond the event.

Of course, we also want our guests to experience Belgium beyond the competition. Bruges will be the setting for the event, giving participants the chance to explore one of Belgium’s most famous historic cities, known for its canals, medieval architecture and unique atmosphere. We wanted the Ideathon to be more than simply a competition, and therefore the programme also includes several social and cultural activities.

One of these will be our Spirits Night, where participants will be invited to share their cultures, traditions and stories with the rest of the group. With EUROAVIA bringing together students from all over Europe, we believe that these informal moments are just as important as the technical side of the event. They give participants the chance to get to know one another, discover new cultures and create friendships beyond their own Local Groups.

Organising an event of this scale is an exciting challenge for EUROAVIA Ostend, and our team has been working to create an experience that combines the professional and social sides of EUROAVIA. From the competition challenges and industry connections to exploring Bruges and sharing cultures during Spirits Night, we want participants to leave Belgium with new knowledge, new ideas and, hopefully, many new friends.

We are incredibly excited to welcome the EUROAVIA community to Bruges this November. EUROAVIA Ostend looks forward to two days of innovation, teamwork and problem-solving, surrounded by a week of aerospace enthusiasm, cultural exchange and new connections.
