This spring brought another exciting milestone for our community as the 5th edition of Drone Workshop successfully took place between the 27th and 29th of March, continuing on the 4th and 5th of April. The event gathered around 80 participants and trainers, all eager to explore the fascinating world of unmanned aerial systems through a dynamic and hands on experience.
The workshop was carefully structured to guide participants through the complete journey of understanding, designing, and building their own drones. During the first session, participants were introduced to the fundamental principles behind drone technology, including flight mechanics, components, and design considerations. With the support of technical trainers, teams began shaping their ideas, learning how different elements contribute to a stable and efficient drone.
Following the theoretical foundation, the second session marked the transition from concept to reality. The construction day transformed the workspace into a vibrant hub of creativity and engineering, where participants assembled their drones step by step. Attention to detail, teamwork, and problem-solving were essential as each group worked towards completing their unique designs. A special highlight of this phase was the focus on aesthetics, with teams competing for the prize of the most beautifully designed drone.
The final day brought the long awaited moment of truth: the flight session. For many participants, this was their first experience piloting a drone, making the atmosphere both thrilling and unforgettable. One by one, the drones took to the air, showcasing a variety of designs and performances. The competition element added an extra layer of excitement, as teams accumulated points throughout the workshop: from quizzes testing their theoretical knowledge, to construction quality, and finally to flight performance.
A particularly meaningful moment of this edition was dedicated to the history of the event. As a celebration of the 5th edition, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of previous technical teams who played a key role in shaping the workshop over the years. Their insights and reflections highlighted the evolution of the event and inspired participants to continue building on this strong legacy.
