In the past month, many things have been going on in Munich and we are excited to share them with you!
Compared to last year’s edition in October, this year brought a new challenge: the teams flew powerful 10-inch class drones with a maximum weight of 5 kg. These custom-built systems are lighter and more agile, but also require extremely fast reaction times from both pilots and autonomous systems. Over three demanding days, the teams had to perform under pressure, with drones reaching speeds of up to 150 km/h. To complete an eligible lap, the drones also had to autonomously drop a payload onto a specific target on the ground before crossing the finish line.
Of course, three days of racing also needed some proper fueling! On the last day, we enjoyed a classic Bavarian brunch with Brezeln and Weißwurst, which was loved by all participants. Congratulations to the winning team, Gadir FPV Racing from Cádiz! A big thank you also goes to all participating teams and to the industry partners who made the event possible. See you again in October!

June was nothing short of spectacular. On the 2nd of June, we had a roundtable with EUROAVIA International, where our members learned more about how EUROAVIA connects Local Groups across Europe. Thank you to the representatives from the International Board, AS WG, BR WG, and IE WG for joining us!

On the 6th of June, EUROAVIA Munich visited the Tag der Bundeswehr at the Universität der Bundeswehr München in Neubiberg. The event offered insights into the people, equipment, research, engineering activities, logistics, environmental protection, and many different roles within the Bundeswehr.

On the 18th of June, EUROAVIA Munich, in collaboration with Women in Computer Science, organized an exclusive event for women and gender minorities in engineering. We had the privilege of welcoming researchers from DLR and the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry. The next day, we had a wonderful visit to Rohde & Schwarz, which was another unique experience.

On the 24th of June, EUROAVIA Munich visited Flugwerft Schleißheim, the aviation branch of the Deutsches Museum, for a curator-guided tour. We learned more about the history and technology behind a wide range of aircraft, helicopters, engines, and experimental projects. A particular highlight was seeing historic German VTOL aircraft and the X-31 experimental aircraft up close.
Another major highlight was our visit to ILA Berlin with 25 participants. During the trip, we met our sponsors MTU Aero Engines and HENSOLDT, gained valuable insights into their technologies and career opportunities, connected with other EUROAVIA Local Groups, and exchanged ideas with professionals from across the aerospace industry. Watching impressive flight displays, including the Tornado, Eurofighter, Tiger, and many more, made the experience even more memorable.
The past month has been filled with amazing events and unique experiences, meeting new people across the EUROAVIA network, while also having many people join EUROAVIA Munich and engaging actively in this community!
