Building a Stronger Community
As we prepare for a new academic year, EUROAVIA Ostend is looking forward to continuing to grow as a Local Group and creating more opportunities for students to connect with the aerospace industry, develop their knowledge and, most importantly, build a strong community around their shared passion for aviation.
We will be starting the new academic year with a renewed Local Board: Enache Gabriela as President, Vincent Bloemen as Vice President or PR, Alexandre Cavallero as Secretary, Christophe Strobbe as Treasurer and Joram Foret as Board Advisor. Board elections will take place at the beginning of the academic year, and we look forward to welcoming new members to the board. With a new team and new ideas, we hope to build on the work of the previous board and make EUROAVIA Ostend even more active and welcoming.
One of our main goals for the coming year is to provide our members with more opportunities to discover the different sides of the aerospace industry. We are currently preparing several company visits, including visits to Safran and ASL Airlines Belgium. These activities will allow our students to see the industry from the inside, discover different career paths, and speak directly with professionals about their experiences.
We have also been working alongside KU Leuven Bruges and Boeing on a series of educational conferences held at the KU Leuven campus. These conferences are open to both EUROAVIA Ostend members and KU Leuven students, creating an opportunity for students from both communities to meet, exchange ideas and expand their professional networks. So far, the series has welcomed guest speakers covering topics such as airport management, rotorcraft and aircraft maintenance, giving students the opportunity to discover different aspects of the aerospace industry and learn directly from professionals working in the field.

Beyond educational activities, we want EUROAVIA Ostend to be a place where students can meet people with similar interests and form connections outside the classroom. Throughout the year, we aim to organise a combination of social activities like: barevenings, games, RESTOAVIA and other events that bring our members together. We believe that having a strong community is an important part of the EUROAVIA experience, especially for students who are new to the university or to the aerospace field.
Another important step for us this year will be strengthening the connection between Ostend and Bruges. As the aviation-related programmes at KU Leuven Bruges are closely connected to our field, we would like to reach out to more students there and give them the opportunity to become involved in EUROAVIA. We are therefore exploring ways to expand our Local Group and involve students, studying aviation in Bruges, in our activities. This would allow us to bring together an even larger community of aerospace enthusiasts while creating more opportunities for collaboration between students from both campuses.
Ultimately, our goal for the coming academic year is simple: to do more together. Whether through educational conferences, company visits, social activities, or new collaborations, we want to give our members more opportunities to learn, connect, and discover where a career in aerospace can take them.
With a new board, new initiatives and an expanding community, we are excited to see what the upcoming academic year will bring for EUROAVIA Ostend. We look forward to welcoming new members, strengthening our existing bonds, and continuing to build a Local Group where aerospace students can learn from one another, connect with the industry, and enjoy being part of the EUROAVIA community.
