Warm greetings to all EUROAVIANs from rainy Ankara! As the autumn rains started pouring over the city and the fall semester began, events have been raining down on AS Ankara as well. In this article, we’ll share what we have been up to this month as AS Ankara.
We started October by setting up a stand at the orientation event held at Devrim Stadium for newcomers to METU. We introduced our association, EUROAVIA, our events, and our technical team while handing out merch. The orientation was a great opportunity to invite students to our welcome meeting. Plus, the alien costume worn by Kerem, one of our board members, was a huge hit.

Next up was our welcome meeting, where we gave presentations about our association and shared details about our committees. With a great turnout, it was wonderful to see so many new EUROAVIANs join us. Afterwards, we gathered at a café for a tea break to chat with our new members and answer their questions.

This month, we also organised a technical visit. Alongside our new members, we visited METUWIND—a facility collaborating with our department that houses wind tunnels and conducts aerodynamic research. We learnt directly from our professors, making it a valuable learning experience for all of us.

To wrap up the month, our final event was a movie night. We had a great crowd come together to watch Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises. Thanks to our sponsors, we enjoyed delicious pizzas, cookies, and coffee. It was a really fun event packed with treats, and a big thanks goes out to everyone who contributed.

October flew by and was packed with events, and we’ll see what November brings. Wishing everyone great days!!
