Chapter 8 – The online phase: COVID times (2019-2021)

January 13, 2025January 13, 2025 by Communication WG

As the COVID-19 pandemic started to reshape the way we worked, studied and connected, also EUROAVIA had to face the difficulties of quarantines and restrictions. While at the beginning of the Business Year 2019-2020 some International Events still took place, like Aerodynamics Symposium in Forlì, or the Formation Workshop in Sevilla, the association was forced to stop the events, as traveling was hugely restricted. So, EUROAVIA had to adapt to a new virtual reality made of online events.

Chapter 7 – Modern times (2010-2018)

December 3, 2024December 2, 2024 by Communication WG

Stepping into a new decade, EUROAVIA’s first big change was achieved by adopting a brand-new image: A change in its Corporate Identity (CI). This change included, for example, adopting two new colours, dark midnight blue and mercury, as well as the logo we know today. Although the desire to change the CI was expressed since the beginning of the decade, a lot of work was needed to make such change, and the new CI was presented, discussed and approved only between 2017 and 2018.

Chapter 5 – The foundation of modern EUROAVIA (1990-1999)

September 24, 2024September 22, 2024 by Communication WG

With the introduction of the new Statutes and Bylaws, EUROAVIA showed a strong and unified image in Europe, being considered the top association for aerospace youth activities by winning awards like the “European Space Trophy”. Today’s EUROAVIA was shaped during the decade of the 1990s, which served as a period of strengthening and restructuring of the association.

Chapter 4 – The revival, part 2 (1987-1989)

September 10, 2024September 10, 2024 by Communication WG

The last years of the 1980s proved pivotal for EUROAVIA as we know it today. The Central Committee was re-established and successful events were held including the European Cooperation Symposium 1988 in Delft and the Symposium on Hypersonics 1989 in Munich. By the end of 1989, the progressive ideology of a cohesive transnational association, just as we know it today was the dominant one within EUROAVIA.

Chapter 4 – The revival, part 1 (1984-1986)

July 29, 2024July 29, 2024 by Communication WG

The following years of hibernation since 1975 were characterised by significant problems both in communication and financial for EUROAVIA. Thanks to the efforts of few Local Groups still motivated to rebuild the association brought EUROAVIA to its revitalisation. Students from five different groups reunited in a congress in Kingston, UK, in September 1984 to make this possible.

Chapter 3 – The dark years

July 9, 2024July 9, 2024 by Communication WG

After a first decade of advancements and network reinforcement, from the beginning of the 1970s, EUROAVIA started lacking sponsorships. Companies were not considering investing in EUROAVIA profitable enough, which led to problems in financing the activities of the association. Moreover, the members started losing interest and they were not identifying anymore with the highest principles of the association. Under these circumstances, a period of low activity and engagement commenced, which we can refer to as the “dark years” of EUROAVIA.
